Recently, an insect resource survey in the Jinggangshan area was jointly conducted by the Administration Bureau of Jiangxi Jinggangshan National Nature Reserve and Northeast Forestry University. A previously unknownspecies of moth was identified in this survey.
After conducting rigorous research, comparison, and analysis, the new species was officially confirmed and named “Mimachrostia jinggangshana”, based onthe location where it was discovered. Research findings related to this newspecies have been jointly published in the international academic journal'Zootaxa',which focuses on animal taxonomy.
'The discovery of “Mimachrostia jinggangshana” was not accidental; it reflects accomplishments of long-term ecological efforts intheprotection Jinggangshan.' said Song Zanyu, a staff member of the Administration Bureau of Jiangxi Jinggangshan National Nature Reserve.
This new species not only adds a 'rare guest' to the biodiversity of the Jinggangshan area but also enriches the field of insect illustration research.
